Constable found endless inspiration for painting in the tranquil landscape and bountiful skies of the Suffolk countryside. During this creative writing course, you will explore the river path where Constable once sketched Flatford Mill to find your own creative response to its gnarled willows, gentle fields and rushing mill stream. New writing will be generated both through careful observation and also by making personal and imaginative connections to the land and its particular atmosphere. Constable's paintings and the local buildings that he sketched will also provoke fresh ideas and exciting imagery for writing. Anyone who wants to write about the natural world is welcome on this course, whether a beginner or more experienced writer. Carefully structured yet enjoyable exercises will help sensitise your responses to landscape and develop your writing skills. Over the course you will produce several short pieces of writing and go away with plenty of ideas and inspiration to write more. Participants are free to write in the form they prefer - descriptive pieces, stories, poems.
