Are you a sixth form student considering a degree in biology, ecology or environmental science? Are you an undergraduate who would like to improve your marine biology? Would you like a career in marine biology, marine conservation or marine science? Do you want to meet working marine scientists and educators? The camp has been created to offer you an opportunity to explore future career or studying options. This residential will enable you to find out more about marine science, hear from experts working in the field and share the experience with others with similar interests. This residential Marine Summer Camp is for: Higher and Advanced Higher Students, Undergraduates just about to start their 1st or 2nd year and Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential students. The course includes two guided snorkelling tours, a wildlife boat trip, seminars from guest scientists, a mini independent research project, sessions on different marine environments and a careers workshop.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
If you are interested in staying at the Centre for additional nights, before or after the course, please contact the Centre for availability and costs which start from £25 for B&B, or £40 full board (we can confirm B&B availability 4 weeks prior to the course). Sunday rate £35.
Jack Lucas is a knowledgeable marine biologist having conducted marine mammal research in four countries, and with a degree in the subject. He is also a qualified Passive Acoustic Monitoring operator and Marine Mammal Observer. He has a passion for birds and marine organisms, and works on Cumbrae as an FSC tutor for much of the year so knows the local sites well.
