This week-long intensive mycology course is aimed at those who want to take their mycological skills to a higher level. Geoff will lead field excursions in old pastures and woodlands to seek fungi which are often passed over as too difficult. The finds will be brought back and microscopes and advanced keys used to get them down to species. A course for intermediated to advanced mycologists.
Tutor: Geoffrey KibbyGeoffrey Kibby has studied fungi for over 50 years in Britain, Europe, North America and parts of the tropics. He is the author and illustrator of some 10 books and field guides to British and American Fungi. A teacher and lecturer, he has taught amateurs, professionals and medical students about fungi in Europe and America and led forays and field trips in many parts of the world.
Before You Attend
What to Bring
- Warm clothing, wellingtons or boots, and waterproofs.
- Collecting equipment should include a x10 hand lens (available to buy form the Centre shop), a pen knife, collecting basket if possible.
- Vacuum flask and container or bag to carry a packed lunch.
- If you wish to bring your own microscope please do, or let the centre know should you need one provided.
