Budding and seasoned writers alike are welcome on this immersive creative writing residential.
You will create a body of work inspired by our surroundings and use a variety of writing prompts to both challenge and develop your writing.
There will be some light walking involved as you will take your notebook ‘out-and-about’ into the local countryside to gain ideas and inspiration from nature as well as some mindfulness practices to help you move into ‘nature time.’
Each evening we will share our writing, creating a supportive space in which you feel safe to share your work.
Tutor: Helen Forester
An ex-English teacher, qualified meditation teacher and avid nature writer, Helen has spent more than a decade teaching creative writing, english literature, literacy, and meditation to adults and young people alike. She is a passionate advocate of the natural world and the part it can play in our creativity, and facilitates outdoor creative writing sessions and retreats in local woodlands and coastal settings close to her home in Hove, East Sussex.
Each of Helen’s sessions incorporate meditation techniques and breathing practices as well as a variety of creative writing and literary approaches, all designed to inspire and encourage both new and seasoned writers to experiment with their words, gaining confidence in their own work and creative voice.
In her spare time, Helen runs a local conservation group and spends most of her time outside playing in woodlands and by the sea with her two children.
