Virtual Meet Ups (VMUs)

These Virtual Meet Ups are an opportunity to keep in touch, share skills and share knowledge during lockdown. They are short natural history webinars, comprising of a 30-40 minute talk from either an FSC BioLinks team member or a guest speaker, followed by a question and answer session. We host them on Zoom, we will send out joining instructions on the day of the event. Sign up to the FSC BioLinks newsletter to find out about other online learning opportunities here.

Hornets – Gentle Giants

Stephen Powles will be joining us in this VMU. He has always been passionate about wildlife and has taken an interest in wildlife photography from a young age. He has now stopped his career as a vet to dedicate himself to observing, photographing and filming wildlife. Most of his subjects are on his “doorstep”. His specialist interests are otters, tawny owls, hornets and the wildlife in and around his home. He has made four television appearances, one of these being on the hornets nesting in his bedroom! In this talk he’ll be telling us all there is to know about hornets.

Please note: this will be slightly longer than our usual VMUs as this talk will last around 50 minutes and will not be recorded.
