Due to Covid-19 we have had to cancel courses from March to 1st August, we hope you will find an event later in the year that you can attend.
This is a practical one-day course which will leave you with the skills to weave a variety of stick materials for hurdle making. We will work primarily with one and two year old willow but for those interested in weaving hazel you can be assured that the techniques are closely similar so you will find all you need to know. The course will include: the growing properties of willow, simple cultivation and a look at the history ; material selection in two styles of weaving; safe effective use of a Bill Hook; weaving technique and weaving a finished panel approximately 3 ft square which you can take home to decorate your garden.
Tutor: Richard KingRichard King trained as a biologist specialising in environmental science and this led him to understand the importance of eco-sustainable industries. He has spent over 10 years as a professional green wood worker and furniture maker with his work being in high demand across East Anglia.
