The islands off the west coast of Scotland are host to some of the most diverse communities of birds in the UK. There are few places where seabirds, raptors, songbirds, waders and wildfowl can all be encountered, set against the beautiful backdrop of mountains, sea and sky. The Island of Great Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde is just an hour from Glasgow and has been a popular nature retreat since the Victorian times.
