This course will cover a wide range of simple printmaking techniques, beginning with experimental approaches using everyday items and those found in nature; how to create a collagraph, use monoprinting, press printing, culminating in block and relief printing methods including rainbow inking, reduction and jigsaw lino cutting to create multi colour prints.
The course is split into easily manageable tutor-supported sessions, enabling each person to create their own set of prints, inspired by the landscape and environment of Flatford Mill.
There are also many different effects that can be achieved by combining different techniques and printing on prepared surfaces.
Tutor: Sue WieckSue Wieck originally trained as a textile designer. She began watercolour painting over 20 years ago, continuing to develop her own distinctive style, mainly working directly from the landscape. She has been teaching art to both adults and younger students for over 36 years, during which time she was also Art Adviser for Bexley Education Authority. Sue works directly from life to produce paintings which express the light and shade in landscape. Her work is mainly on full-size heavy watercolour paper, as she enjoys using a variety of large brushes. This gives her the freedom to experiment with skies and express mood, which is a very different approach to that of many other watercolour painters. Her style is loose and not too detailed. Her themes include interesting old buildings, seascapes, bleak landscapes and tree studies, as well as fish and animals.
