Important: Road closures in High Beach throughout June will affect access to the Field Centre.  Cross Roads will be closed between 3rd and 24th June (approx) and there will be a signposted diversion. Coach drivers are advised to use Claypit Hill as an alternative approach to High Beach.  We have put together a downloadable document detailing recommended alternatives, and we strongly advise that all visiting groups consider their route before their visit day.  Schools will be responsible for contacting their coach companies to inform them of the changes.

Please note that other roads around the Field Centre will be shut throughout the summer, please check back regularly for the latest information or call us on 0208 502 8500.

Epping Forest Field Centre is a purpose-built non residential centre located in a terrific Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation that provides excellent learning opportunities.  It has excellent transport links and is only a few kilometres from the M25 and M11 and from Loughton Station (Central Line for London Underground Services) and Chingford Station (rail services from Liverpool Street Station).

The Centre is managed by the Field Studies Council on behalf of the City of London, and was established to commemorate the European Year of Conservation in 1970.  FSC Epping Forest Field Centre delivers the City of London environmental learning service in Epping Forest.

'The quality of guidance and support offered to learners before and during their stay is outstanding…The overall quality of both leadership and management is outstanding'. Chris Warn, former Senior OFSTED Inspector (October 2007).
