Data Protection, Data Processing and Privacy

We take our data protection responsibilities seriously. We are committed to data security and protecting your privacy. We have been working on our systems and processes to ensure we are prepared for the new data protection legislation known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) as well as ensuring we continue to comply with the ongoing Electronic Communications and Privacy Regulations.

Part of our work for GDPR has been to ask our existing customers who visit an FSC centre or fieldwork location on an individual course program, family activity program or Real Family Holiday to “opt-in” for marketing communications. This is due to a change to the rules which govern how we can communicate with our individual customers/supporter. We now rely on the ‘consent’ of our individual and family-based customers, and this means that they have a clear choice as to whether they want to receive marketing information and further communications from us beyond their booking or not, and in choosing what they wish to receive, the method by which they will receive such communications (e.g. by post or email).

For our school/group focused customers/supporters our marketing and communications focus on the organisation and not the individual and therefore we have assessed that we have a ‘legitimate interest’ to continue to market to this customer/supporter base and this forms our legal basis for performing this processing.

It is also important to stress that we will never sell your personal data, and FSC will only ever share it with organisations we work with where necessary as part of our day to day operations and only if its privacy and security are guaranteed.
