Rhyd-y-Creuau is a popular activity centre in North Wales, based in a beautifully restored Georgian country house from the early 1800s. Located in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, the centre provides direct access to some of the UK’s most breathtaking natural landscapes—ideal for field studies, environmental education, and adventure-based school trips.

Surrounded by cascading rivers, wooded hillsides, and glaciated valleys, the centre is a gateway to hands-on learning in the outdoors. From rocky coastal shores to upland ecosystems, the local environment supports a wide range of curriculum-linked studies in Geography, Biology, Environmental Science and more.

Rhyd-y-Creuau is set within a 2.2-hectare estate designed to support both exploration and education. On-site features include:
- Woodlands and a biodiversity garden
- Two freshwater ponds and a stream
- A 10-minute well-being walkway
- Campfire area for reflection and social time
- Football pitch and open spaces for group activities

As a well equipped outdoor activity centre in North Wales, Rhyd-y-Creuau provides access to a wide range of adventure and team-building experiences that make the most of the stunning Eryri (Snowdonia) landscape. Activities include:

Accommodation
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. Our residential centres offer a range of room sizes and layouts from single and twin up to larger dormitories. Note: not all centres have single/twin rooms. All rooms are subject to availability. Some rooms are en suite and others have shower and toilet facilities close by. Please contact us if you want to discuss your room requirements.
Each centre also has places to relax during any free time such as a lounge, games room and outdoor space.
Food
For one day visits you are usually asked to bring a packed lunch unless it is specified otherwise.
Residential visits include freshly prepared seasonal meals, with a hot breakfast, packed lunch and choice of evening meal. Food is sourced locally wherever possible and we can cater for most dietary requirements. All of our residential centres have been awarded the Soil Association’s Food for Life Served Here Bronze Award which recognises organisations which go the extra mile to make sure visitors are receiving healthy, nutritious and sustainable meals.

As part of our environmental commitment we encourage all visitors to travel by coach, train or public transport.
By road – it is a short drive south from the A55 North Wales Expressway, making it easily accessible from most areas.
By train – the nearest railway station is at Betws-y-coed, a simple flat walk of around 1km.
Taxi and bus services are not readily available unless pre-booked. There is a minimal public bus service that runs past the centre.
