From the Draper's Field Centre you can explore the diverse habitats and environments of Snowdonia National Park; from glaciated valleys, rivers and wooded hillsides to dramatic coasts and sand dune ecosystems. The centre itself is a Georgian house set in two hectares of wooded grounds with Eco-Centre status, allowing you to experience a sustainable lifestyle, only 1 hour 50 minutes from Manchester and 3 hours 40 minutes from the M25.

Outdoor Classroom

Rhyd-y-creuau offers a wide range of courses for the young to the young at heart. These incorporate a diversity of local sites from Snowdon, Morfa Harlech and Cwm Idwal NNR to Betws-y-Coed. We run courses for Key Stage 2 groups and university students. Our AS and A-Level courses are very popular. All are tailored to meet the individual needs and specifications of the trip, whether it is Geography or Biology.

Professional Development

The FSC is committed to career development and professional training in the environment and is one of the UK's leading providers of taxonomic training. Each year we offer a wide range of courses, many of which are accredited and certified by awarding bodies, to help individuals develop their skills. Our courses are popular with the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and National Park staff. Please contact the Centre if you would like us to tailor makecourses for groups of countryside professionals and teachers. Teachers' courses are available through the medium of English or Welsh.
