This Art Camp residential is perfect for anyone who feels inspired by both creativity and the natural world.
Throughout the week, you’ll step into museums, take part in hands‑on workshops, and discover new sources of inspiration that spark your artistic imagination.
You’ll explore a variety of experiences that reconnect you with nature and help shape your creative journey. From learning fresh techniques to experimenting with natural materials, you’ll follow in the footsteps of artists who have drawn from the landscape for centuries.
Passionate staff will be there to guide and encourage you as you develop your own style and confidence. Along the way, you’ll learn from fellow participants, share ideas, and explore the exciting space where art and nature meet.
This course is suitable for those aged 16-18 years old and for the residential section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Always check with your leader before booking.

Example Timetable
Day 1
12pm Arrival – Introduction to the centre and local area
On arrival - Participants will receive an introduction to the centre, followed by some icebreakers and team games. There will also be an opportunity to explore the area and familiarise yourself with the local environment.
Afternoon - Workshop exploring the history of Zines with a chance to start creating your own which you will continue developing through the week.
Day 2
Environmental illustrations
Morning/Afternoon - Allow the nature and landscape around you to inspire sketches, life drawings and scientific illustrations. Build pieces to work into your personal zines.
Evening - Art and environmental activism session. Art is key to activism and conservation so you will spend the evening creating stop-motion campaign videos on an issue close to your heart.
Day 3
Art from natural materials
Morning/afternoon - Use the natural materials around you to create art in different mediums and learn new techniques.
Evening – Hapa Zome, literally translated to ‘plant/flower dying’, is a Japanese technique of flower printing to create a piece incorporating natural fibres and local flora. Additionally, we will learn the craft of nettle cordage, creating incredible braided works out of native nettle plants.
Day 4
Art exhibit day visit
Morning/afternoon - Experience the culture and art in this region by visiting museums and taking part in workshops that will inspire your creative endeavours.
Evening – Campfire. Reflect on the highlights of the week whilst toasting marshmallows and playing campfire games.
Day 5
Creative project time and exhibition
Morning - Spend the morning collating your work from the week and finishing up your zines before sharing our achievements and heading home.
Depart 3pm

What's Included
Before You Attend
This residential is only open to young people who will be aged 16 - 18 years old at the time of attending.
We want to ensure participants get to share in their experience with those of a similar age. Please consider what age the attendee will be on the course date and check they fit into the age category when booking. (Please see each individual course at the bottom of this page for age ranges).
When attending the residential dates which welcome 16-18 year olds, all participants will be expected to follow the behaviour and conduct rules which will be in place to safeguard young people.
If the attendee is under 18, the booking must be made by a parent/guardian. When you book, it is essential that you enter the age and attendees name in the Order Notes at the checkout.
Prior to the course, you will receive the following:
- A full kit list. Any technical equipment required will be provided so you will just need typical kit for a residential stay and being outdoors.
- An introduction to the staff delivering the course and information about the centre so you know what to expect on arrival.
- A detailed itinerary for the course, including arrival and departure instructions. On some courses there may be the opportunity to book a train station pick up and/or drop off.
- A link to an online photo consent form.
- The expectations of young people attending our courses.
- A form to share any specific dietary or medical needs.
