Message from FSC CEO Mark Castle
Roadmap to Reopening
I’m pleased that DfE advice on school visits now lines up with England’s Roadmap to recovery. We expect updated advice on school visits for the rest of the UK to swiftly follow.
This gives us dates that we can work towards. Roadmap dates may still be subject to change, but we are working on being able to welcome you back to our centres from 12th April for day visits, and for residentials from 17th May.
However, we are still waiting for the detailed guidance on reopening from the DfE and whether there will be any changes to the suggested guidance put forward by the sector. It is only when DfE publish the guidance that we will be able to know exactly how we can accommodate our visitors.
Here at FSC we will of course carefully apply the guidance so that when we reopen, we will be able to offer Covid Secure, inspirational, first hand education experiences that I know you have missed. I know that you are used to living with uncertainty but to reassure you, we offer customers our Book with Confidence scheme which offers flexibility if the Roadmap dates change again.
In the meantime, we have a wide range of online resources available to help, from free virtual fieldwork sessions via #fieldworklive and #primarynaturelive to teacher training sessions and comprehensive digital packages covering fieldwork content.
There isn’t a lesson in the school day that can’t be enriched by connecting to nature, or a subject in the curriculum that can’t be enhanced by outdoor learning. We are looking ahead to much brighter times to come and I am really looking forward to welcoming you back to our centres as soon as we can.
