Each day we visited different habitats to look at different mosses and liverworts. The teacher was very good at showing us the features of the mosses and liverworts. We collected a lot of specimens and took them back to the lab to look at under microscopes in the late afternoon and evening. We were shown how to use the microscopes and we tried keying out a few species. It was a mixed class for beginners and intermediates although it was more aimed at intermediates who already knew the common species. However, the key features of the common mosses were gone through in a re-cap session which was really helpful. As we collected a lot of specimens we really needed a bit more time to go through them on the last day. The food wasn’t great at Kindrogan but the rooms and the location make up for it.
