It was advertised as suitable for complete beginners, which I was. Apart from an initial coverage of the structure of grasses, the course seemed to assume knowledge of grasses. I was left struggling to identify individual grasses, mostly by myself. A knowledgeable student on the course was more help to me than the course tutor. The field trip was badly organised; there were not enough maps to go round; the tutor did not tell us there were 2 car parks so myself and another student went to the wrong one. The tutor said “let me know if there is anything you do not recognise”; I did not recognise most of the grasses. I was very disappointed in the course, and felt I only gained from half a day of the 2 day course.
