Archery
Archery provides a very accessible and accelerated way to explore how to develop a new skill. Humans have a developed a genetic affinity to the bow and arrow over thousands of years. We will take learners through how to focus on developing a new skill, which is a skill in itself. Available at Millport
Arrival and objectives setting
Every programme begins with learners shaping their own journey. Together, they set outcomes, agree how they want to work, and share any concerns. This session pairs seamlessly with the course review at the end, helping learners reflect on progress and connect their experiences back to everyday life. Available at all +Adventure centres
Bushcraft
Craft based learning encourages wellbeing, creativity and a strong connection to nature. Our expert bushcraft sessions immerse learners in practical outdoor skills while deepening their understanding of and engagement with the natural environment. Available at all +Adventure centres
Campfire
A campfire creates the perfect space for reflection, storytelling and shared achievement. Lighting a fire – whether for warmth, discussion or celebration – builds confidence and brings groups together in a supportive, uplifting atmosphere. Available at all +Adventure centres
Canoeing
Used for wilderness travel for generations, open canoes encourage communication, cooperation and teamwork. Learners gain hands-on skills while experiencing the natural world from a completely new and inspiring perspective. Available at Castle Head and Preston Montford
Climbing tower
Climbing towers offer an exciting and accessible introduction to a dynamic sport. As learners challenge themselves on the wall, they build confidence, resilience and a strong sense of team support. Available at Preston Montford
Course review and departure
This closing session helps learners reflect on key moments from their residential. By revisiting successes and challenges, they identify new knowledge and consider how to apply it in future settings. Available at all +Adventure centres
Crate stack
Working from the ground up, learners build a tower of crates while supporting climbers who balance on top. Success relies on communication, trust and encouragement, making this a powerful shared team challenge. Available at Castle Head
Ecosystems
These sessions draw on each centre’s unique environment. Learners may use specialist equipment to identify bat calls, explore the biodiversity of rocky shores or consider conservation actions they can take at home or school. Available at all +Adventure centres
Fire lighting
This session goes far beyond striking a match. Using traditional friction methods or flint and steel, learners experience perseverance, resilience and the satisfaction of creating fire through their own efforts. Available at all +Adventure centres
Ghyll scrambling
Learners make their way up a wild mountain ghyll, helping each other scramble over rocks, push through rushing water and take on natural obstacles. The journey to the top demands courage, resilience and strong teamwork. This energising session develops resilience, teamwork and leadership skills while immersing groups in wild, inspirational environments. Available at Castle Head and Rhyd-y-Creuau
High ropes
Our high ropes course features multiple elements designed to build trust, personal challenge and team resilience. Learners test their confidence and support each other through every step. Available at Castle Head
Ice breaking and teambuilding
Strong teams begin with connection. These early activities develop communication, trust and collaboration, setting a positive foundation for the adventures ahead. Available at all +Adventure centres
Low ropes
A series of engaging obstacles encourages groups to plan; problem solve and support each other. Communication and teamwork are essential as learners navigate the course together. Available at Castle Head and Preston Montford
Mountain day
A day in the mountains is both inspiring and memorable. Learners build navigation, leadership and decision-making skills while experiencing the achievement that comes from completing the journey. Available at Castle Head and Rhyd-y-Creuau
Nightline
Using blindfolds, learners rely on touch, sound and communication to navigate the nightline. This sensory challenge promotes empathy, trust and effective communication. Available at all +Adventure centres
Night walk
Exploring the natural world after dark heightens the senses and creates an atmospheric learning experience. Learners notice new details and develop confidence in unfamiliar settings. Available at all +Adventure centres
Orienteering
This engaging session blends physical activity with practical navigation skills. Using maps and compasses, learners explore new places while developing problem solving and spatial awareness. Available at all +Adventure centres
Peg n pole
A lively, hands-on challenge where learners work together to move through the peg ’n’ pole course. It’s energetic, fun and great for building teamwork and communication. Available at Preston Montford
Raft building
Designing and building a raft is just the start – learners then put their creation to the test on the water, discovering first-hand the real‑world consequences of their teamwork and design choices. Available at Castle Head, Millport and Rhyd-y-Creuau
Rock climbing
Rock climbing challenges learners to work together, communicate clearly and trust one another. Navigating real rock features builds confidence, resilience and a strong sense of achievement. Available at Castle Head, Millport and Rhyd-y-Creuau
Sea level traverse
This session explores the dramatic coastline above Morecambe Bay. Learners build self-confidence, teamwork and an appreciation of the natural landscape as they navigate coastal terrain. Available at Castle Head
Snorkel
This activity is one of the most well received by our learners – using a snorkel to get incredibly close to a bio-diverse area of pristine nature is a life-changing experience. Available at Millport
Team challenge
Often the final session of a programme, this activity brings together everything the group has learned. Skills such as communication, empathy, teamwork and problem solving all play a central role. Available at all +Adventure centres
Wilderness expedition
Our most authentic adventure-learning experience. With an overnight stay in wild country, this expedition fosters independence, resilience and long-term personal growth through purposeful challenge.
