FSC Blencathra has stunning views and topnotch accomodation and catering. Our course took us walking through different local terrain, with just the right amount of exercise… Not too little, not too much!! (Walking gear was provided free of charge) We learnt a lot about the geography and understanding the evolution of the area from early volcanic, through tropical seas until the (pretty wet) present, and got to see some stunning and atmospheric views. We had some indoor talks but spent the majority of time outdoors, including visits to mines and the odd post walk cafe. Days went until about 5pm and then we were free to have dinner and relax. The children were from 6yrs to about 14 and all enjoyed the walking trips and indoor rec room, and they seperated out comfortably into peer groups. It was definitely a great introduction to the lakes area with friendly and knowledgable guides.
