Excellent course. The tutors are exceptionally knowledgeable and very helpful. Rather than being a fixed syllabus, the course runs in a flexible way so each student can study the things of most interest to them, with assistance from the tutors when required. There were people on the course from complete beginners to microscope identification (including myself) to those with significant experience looking to improve in particular areas, and the tutors catered to all of these. There are some optional fieldwork sessions on sampling techniques, and lots of practical hands-on microscope identification work. My only complaint would be that the course is not long enough – I’d have liked another day or three at it!
