This workshop was very well presented by Howard Bentley, Phil Brighton and Martin Harvey. I spent most of the time in the Anthomyiidae workshop (Bentley/Brighton). The identification keys were excellent (an enormous amount of work must have gone into these. The specimens provided for both workshops (from NHM, Liverpool World Museum and Howard’s own selection for study) were very good to work with.
I feel that this workshop has set a benchmark for the recording and wider study of UK Anthomyiidae (a difficult fly family), and has certainly increased my confidence regarding identification. I shall be recording Anthomyiidae this year and beyond !
