Very happy with this course & the FSC! Great facilities at the centre – very warm rooms, clean, good food, friendly staff. The course itself was brilliant, very well structured and practical. The instructor was great, pleasure to work with, with a good approach to teaching. I have to admit I was sceptical about being able to identify a variety of UK species after just two days of training, especially as I was a complete beginner (could identify a birch, and that’s about it), but I went home extremely satisfied and confident in my ability. I can now recognise a number of more common deciduous species at a distance, just from the shape and colour, and lots of native species (many of which I didn’t even know existed!) by looking at the twigs & buds. On the last day I was able to just walk around the classroom where all the “training” twigs were kept and identify them all either on my own or fairly quickly with the key. Thoroughly recommended!
