Another splendid week with George, but it seems he will be retiring at the end of the year, and there are no plans in place to find a successor. This will be terrible loss; this course has inspired so many people to take up bookbinding over the years – myself included: from my first week in May 2009 I have now ‘risen’ to be chair of the local East Anglian branch of the Society of Bookbinders. i will be very sad to see the end of Flatford’s contribution to this honourable and ancient craft.
