Hugely enjoyed this course. Mark (the tutor) obviously very knowledgeable, but guided us nicely through disambiguating the given plants. Shared nice ecological/historical background too. Brilliant that he’d brought so much real plant material with him to the classroom (eg the wide variety of fumitory species), so that we could do-and-learn-for-ourselves (as opposed to just listen-and-aim-to-absorb); huge plus that he’d brought all that. Likewise in the field – good instruction – great that he had his whiteboard in the field, and could quickly sketch out relevant points about the plants we were looking at. Great field location chosen by Mark, with good variety of plants to look at.

Biggest challenge was packing so much information into the morning – I could have managed a two-day course on this topic. However, given that it was a one-day course, definitely right that only half-day classroom, plus half a day out in the field.
