I wanted to get to grips with wild grasses in order to enable me to undertake habitat surveys for our local wildlife trust.
The course surpassed my expectations. Flatford Mill is a lovely place to relax and learn. Out tutor Jonny Stone was a walking encyclopedia of information about the subject. He was very well prepared, passionate about his subject, no question seemed too stupid. He encouraged a range of learning styles including experiential, learning in pairs, use of microscope, lecture based. Lots of field work and repetition. A excellent group dynamic was created and it was fun. Following the course as a beginner I felt much more confident to ID common 30 grasses and also prepared to tackle some new ones.
I look forward to attending further courses with the FSC.
