John Shave was the best oil painting Tutor I have ever had. Each day we practised techniques he showed us and then we did full paintings of our own – an excellent way of going about things. I learnt so much more than on any other oils course, including how to use water-mixable oils to good effect as well as the ‘normal’ oils I am used to. I received lots of good individual advice as well as benefitting from hearing the advice others were getting – and I was actually pleased with every painting I did.
