Join us for Adventures in Eryri (Snowdonia). Do you have a love for adventure, the great outdoors, and have an interest in working to conserve it, then read on.

This course is for young people aged between 16 and 18 years old with a sense of adventure.

Throughout the week, you will take part in a variety of activities to discover and explore the National Park and surrounding areas with like-minded peers.

Challenges might include climbing, gorge scrambling, mountain trekking, canoeing and an overnight camping expedition. A key aspect of the residential will be your conservation day, where you will conduct work to conserve an area within Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

This course is suitable for the residential section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Always check with your leader before booking.

Day 1
Arrive for 1200
Team building challenges, introductions and a welcome tour of the centre.

Day 2
Scrambling or Gorge Walking followed by expedition planning, packing bags, gathering food etc.
Trekking through nearby mountains and wild spaces to a wild campsite in Eryri/Snowdonia.
Establish camp and set up for the evening, sharing stories and socialising.

Day 3
Pack up camp and continue walking through the countryside and mountains.
Bushcraft activities in the centre grounds or local woodland.
Evening: Get your hands dirty and test out your culinary skills with handmade pizzas in our wood-fired oven; a great chance to relax and catch up on your week so far.
Humane mammal trapping and moth trapping.

Day 4
See what you have caught in the mammal and moth traps the previous night.
Conservation day is working in partnership with the Snowdonia National Park Authority to carry out conservation tasks for the benefit of others. This may involve clearing an area and working to combat local invasive species.
Evening Orienteering or Nightline.

Day 5 
Scrambling or gorge walking adventure
Final review. Completion of paperwork for those who are fulfilling the residential element of the Duke of Edinburgh award with the course.
Reflection and farewells to your new friends

What's Included

Before You Attend

A kit list will be sent out via email. All technical equipment will be provided.

This residential is only open to young people who will be aged 16 - 18 years old at the time of attending. 

We want to ensure participants get to share in their experience with those of a similar age. Please consider what age the attendee will be on the course date and check they fit into the age category when booking.

If the attendee is under 18, the booking must be made by a parent/guardian. When you book, it is essential that you enter the age and attendees name in the Order Notes at the checkout.

When attending the residential dates which welcome 16-18 year olds, all participants will be expected to follow the behaviour and conduct rules which will be in place to safeguard young people.
