Preparing for fieldwork – A New Teachers Toolkit to Deliver Fieldwork KS3 – KS5 Tuesday 1st November 2022
Are you a new teacher, or just lack experience in planning and delivering fieldtrips? Let Field Studies Council help, as experts in this field, we will share with you over 90 minutes information and tips on the following:
- The benefits of, and barriers to fieldwork
- Planning a trip with an external provider
- Planning your own fieldwork in the local area
- Risk assessments
Ecology Based Practicals for Biology Teachers at GCSE and A Level Tuesday 22nd November 2022
Are you a new biology teacher wanting to increase confidence in ecology-based practicals? If you cannot get to a field centre to do your fieldwork, we will help you plan and deliver fieldwork in the local grounds of your school to cover GCSE and A Level requirements. In this session we will cover transects and random sampling as well as how to make do with the kit you have handy at school.
Maths and Statistical Skills for A Level Biology Teachers Thursday 24th November 2022
Do you want to improve your skills in maths and statistical skills that can aid your biology students in their fieldwork and exams? In this session, we will cover descriptive analysis and statistical analysis such as:
- Central tendencies
- Standard deviation `
- How to choose statistical tests
- Worked example of one statistical analysis method
