Carrying on from the success of our teacher training webinars at the start of this year, we’re pleased to let you know that we are re-running them again this November. Aimed at supporting new teachers and those who want to improve their confidence and skills in running fieldwork, the engaging live web sessions will be led by FSC’s experienced education team.
Join FSC across a series of three online biology teacher training sessions to develop your confidence in fieldwork knowledge, and enable you to support your students. Each topic is a 90-minute session delivered online from 16:00-17.30.
You can also book sessions individually for £10 each.
Biology Teacher Twilight Sessions 2021:
Are you a new teacher, or just lack experience in planning and delivering fieldtrips? Let FSC help, as experts in this field, we will share with you over 90 minutes information and tips on the following:
- The benefits of, and barriers to fieldwork
- Planning a trip with an external provider
- Planning your own fieldwork in the local area
- Risk assessments
Ecology Based Practicals for Biology Teachers at GCSE and A Level 25th November 2021
Are you a new biology teacher wanting to increase confidence in ecology-based practicals? If you cannot get to a field centre to do your fieldwork, we will help you plan and deliver fieldwork in the local grounds of your school to cover GCSE and A Level requirements. In this session we will cover transects and random sampling as well as how to make do with the kit you have handy at school.
Maths and Statistical Skills for A Level Biology Teachers 30th November 2021
Do you want to improve your skills in maths and statistical skills that can aid your biology students in their fieldwork and exams? In this session, we will cover descriptive analysis and statistical analysis such as:
- Central tendencies
- Standard deviation `
- How to choose statistical tests
- Worked example of one statistical analysis method
