Preparing for fieldwork – A New Teachers Toolkit to Deliver Fieldwork KS3 – KS5 Tuesday 1st November 2022

Are you a new teacher, or just lack experience in planning and delivering fieldtrips? As experts in this field, we will share with you over 90 minutes information and tips on the following:

  • Planning a trip with an external provider
  • Planning your own fieldwork in the local area

Geographical Enquiry and Approaches to Data Collection KS3 – KS5 Thursday 3rd November 2022

An introduction to geographical enquiry for new teachers. We aim to build confidence and create a toolkit of resources to help new geography teachers to deliver fieldwork. During this session we will share information and resources to help with:

  • Promoting and identifying fieldwork opportunities throughout the curriculum
  • Primary vs secondary data
  • Quantitative vs qualitative data

Human Geography Fieldwork Skills and Opportunities in your Local Area at GCSE Tuesday 8th November 2022

Are you a GCSE geography teacher trying to cover human fieldwork skills without visiting a field centre? We can help, over 90mins in this session, we will introduce various methods of data collection and techniques that can be done in the local area to your school. We will help you to build a toolkit and gain confidence in using methods to inspire and engage your students in human geography.

Place Geography Fieldwork Skills and Opportunities in your Local Area at A Level Thursday 10th November 2022

Are you an A Level geography teacher trying to cover place fieldwork skills without visiting a field centre? Introduction to GIS Skills for Geography Teachers at KS4 – KS5 Tuesday 15th November 2022

Are you looking to increase confidence and gain skills in the basics of GIS data collection and presentation? In this session, we will cover the basics of collecting data using Survey 123, and using ArcGIS to present data and filter values to identify patterns and trends.

Advanced GIS Skills for Geography Teachers at A Level Thursday 17th November 2022

Geography teachers looking to increase their skills in GIS for A Level, would benefit from this session. We aim to increase confidence and build a toolkit of more advanced GIS analytical skills and to help you to help your NEA students be prepared to utilise GIS in their investigations.

Maths and Statistical Skills for Geography Teachers at KS4 – KS5 Tuesday 22nd November 2022

Do you want to improve your skills in maths and statistical skills that can aid your geography students in their fieldwork and exams? In this session we will cover descriptive analysis and statistical analysis such as:

  • Central tendencies
  • Dispersion of data
  • How to choose statistical tests
  • Worked example of one statistical analysis method

Preparing Students for the NEA: Considerations for Geography Teachers at A Level Thursday 24th November 2022

In this session, the Field Studies Council want to help new teachers prepare students for the individual investigation, by building a toolkit of fieldwork opportunities, planning considerations and how to tackle titles as well as helping to understand the requirements and rules.
