Autumn Art Adventure

Families will be led by tutors walking around the local area and onsite at Juniper Hall, completing artworks both collaboratively and individually. Gain inspiration from activities such as natural walks, minibeast hunts and campfire activities. Then get creative collecting natural materials to form art works in the woods that will inspire and entertain others, create giant bugs from recycled materials, make hand-made seed paper and your own decorative natural frames.

Allow your creativity to run free with other art-based activities!

Amongst the activities on offer are: Bushcraft artwork – including wood medallions and making charcoal pencils; working with clay to make mini sculptures and tree spirit faces; engage in some larger scale collaborative natural artwork, seed paper making and many more.

The course will be taught by our tutors all greatly experienced at delivering high quality education to family groups.

All food, activities and accommodation are provided allowing you all to enjoy a half-term break.

The course is suitable for families with children aged 4 – 8 years. Please note: You will be sharing a room with just you and your family.

Tuesday

Set out on a walk around Lodge Hill (Box hill) to seek out inspiration from the natural world, with lots of stops for a chance for photographs.

Landscape sketch – take in and capture a beautiful view of the Surrey Hills.

Natural Pallet – a scavenger hunt with a difference, find the colours in nature to create a colour pallet.

Lunch outside on Box Hill  (if weather permits)

Tree sprit faces -  Get to know the gentle giants in the mature woodland like you never have before. Find their faces hidden within and use natural clay to bring them to life.

Make and use alder cone and blackberry inks.

Leaf art and leaf pop art

Inspirational Bug Hunt – what invertebrates can we find.

Ice Art – Families will set up their own natural ice artwork to be placed in the freezers overnight for a reveal the following morning.

Wednesday

Start the day by revealing and hanging up our natural ice art from the previous night to let the morning sunshine through our ice suncatchers

Search the grounds to look for the mini artists (spiders) and their intricate geomatic micro-art webs.

Bushcraft Art - Spend time around the campfire, activities will include making charcoal and charcoal pencils, using tools to cut and create wooden medallion necklaces/medals with elder beads.

Warm up by making black berry tea and some campfire cookery.

Natures Frames- create geometric frames from the twigs and then choose some of the most aesthetic natural materials to make into tissue paper “stained glass”.

BIG natural art- Sum up your stay with some collaborative natural art on the lawns of Juniper Hall, inspired by the works of Andrew Goldsworthy.
