This course will focus on general navigation, navigation in poor visibility, leading groups on steep ground, scrambling and expeditions in the mountains. We will aim to develop independent walkers, climbers and mountaineers who practice and encourage sustainable and sympathetic use of the outdoors by all users.

On the Friday morning you will meet your trainer. The other days may have alternative start locations and times, but that will be discussed throughout the week.

Due to this course being highly weather dependant, further course timings and locations will be discussed during the course.

This course will take place at Rhyd Y Creuau, North Wales. The centre is perfectly placed at the heart of Y Eryri with great access to the Ogwen Valley, Capel Curig and the surrounding landscape.

Before you book onto this course, please make sure that you have done the following:

  • You must be registered on the Mountain Leader scheme.
  • You must have recorded a minimum of 20 Quality Mountain Days (ideally on DLOG) which can have taken place at any point (pre- or post-registration).

There is residential and non-residential availability for this course.
