Lake District National Park Authority
As frequent users of the Lake District National Park we are very aware of our potential impact and make efforts to use the park sustainably and with limited impact.
In addition to this we deliver the John Muir Award which is supported by the Lake District National Park.
"The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It encourages awareness and responsibility for the natural environment, in a spirit of fun, adventure and exploration."

Blencathra Centre works witht the YHA to provide fieldwork and educational packages for groups staying at YHA hostels in the Lake District. We cater for all age groups from key stage 2 right thought to A-level and can work from every YHA hostel in the Lake District. To see what we can offer click here.
Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)
Head of Centre Tim Foster is the chair of the RGS North West region. There are many Royal geographical Society (with IBG) events taking place throught the year, some being hosted at the Blencathra Centre. These include the Teachers' Fieldwork Masterclass weekend and the Learning and Leading Fieldwork Summer School for A-level geography students.
Tunsbergdalsbreen Project is an international project with the aim of making young people aware of climate change and the way glaciers react to these changes. Tutors from Blencathra Centre have participated in and lead fieldwork on the Tunsburgdalsbreen glacier to monitor its reponse to climate change.
Blencathra Centre supports Nurture Lakeland whose aim is to inspire people to care for and contribute to the natural environment of the Lake District and Cumbria through responsible tourism. In particular we have worked on The Low Carbon Cottages Energy Saving Toolkit.
