I would recommend this course to anyone who wants an introduction to using coloured pencils for any type of drawing, or is eager to try something new or get back into artistic pursuits. The approach to learning through doing and the constant interaction with the tutor were inspiring and ensured…

Another very enjoyable course. Flatford never disappoints. Excellent tutor.

Rather disappointing. The course details were inaccurate, seeming to refer to a Spring or Summer Course rather than an Autumn one. There was not much help with ID, eg none of the DVDS or apps which were mentioned in the course details. I suggest you only go if you are…

The tutor had loads of tips that aren’t in any textbook, which is so invaluable. Most of the day was outdoors, driven by minibus in Epping Forest to see the many different examples of trees and their management. Very enjoyable.

It was much more than a forage, as the tutor’s botany background offered insights into the wider plant world. I didn’t expect to find much, it having been a long hot summer, but we all did really well in tracking down a good couple of dozen beauties!…

Great experience at the centre. Course introduction ran smoothly and the hospitality was good.

This course was excellent. The instructor was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He provided the right balance of classroom instruction and practice in the field. It was an enjoyable day, and I now feel like I have a solid foundation for recording amphibians and reptiles. I hope to attend the extended course…

Practical sessions were very good, we both enjoyed seeing and hearing the birds alongside a very knowledgeable leader. Accommodation fine and food was excellent as were the cheerful and friendly catering team. The leader would have benefitted from support with IT so that the PowerPoint pictures were clear and…

Excellent course with extremely knowledgeable leaders on other topics as well as birds as they have worked in conservation for years. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was not hearing some of the bird calls because of loss of high end hearing therefore will…

The tutor was excellent. The course content was as advertised but would have been better if broader. The food was diabolical…
