This nationally recognised qualification allows you to lead Forest School sessions.
Participants experience all the practical aspects of Forest School, from bushcraft and woodcraft through to tool work and playful ways of interacting with the woodland, demonstrating what is possible for them to achieve in their own settings.
The Level 3 training takes place over nine days. The dates for this course are:
- Monday 25th – Friday 29th July 2022 and Monday 1st – Thursday 4th August 2022
This is a non-residential course.
Learners will also need to lead a minimum of six Forest School Sessions.
This course is accredited by Open College Network West Midlands.
This qualification is designed to develop leadership, facilitation, practical and teaching skills to enable learners to understand the principles and ethos of Forest School. It also enables learners to deliver Forest School programmes. It is designed to meet the needs of school and college staff, teachers and teaching assistants, youth workers, adults and professionals in training to become a Forest School leader. This qualification will prepare learners for further study and employment in the outdoors.
Minimum age: 19 – Please note the minimum age for qualified Forest School Leaders is 21 (This is a Department for Education Requirement).

Tutor: Vicki Wood
Vicki is an experienced Forest School Leader with over 10 years’ experience of running sessions with children of all ages from pre school to teenagers. She has worked in Primary schools and as a freelance Forest School Leader setting up a number of sites from scratch in a range of settings.
With an Environmental Science degree, an Accredited Practitioner with the Institute for Outdoor Learning and over 20 years’ experience working and teaching outdoors she has put all of these skills to good use and has been delivering Forest School Training for 8 years.
