Follow in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright and conquer the Lake District hills! Based at the award winning Blencathra Centre we will explore one of the UK’s most iconic landscapes, with accessible walks which are fun for the whole family. Learn the skills of navigation and discover the hidden natural history of the fells (and sample its varied tea shops!).
We will be focused on accessible hills rather than the highest Lake District peaks. The precise details will depends on the weather and aspirations of the group. You need to be comfortable walking for a few hours at a time on rough ground.
Please note: You will be sharing a room with just you and your family.
Tutor: Centre StaffThis course will be led by our experienced and enthusiastic tutors.
The course will start on Tuesday afternoon with getting to know the other participants, disscussing plans for the week and having a warm up on the centre groups orienteering course.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will include full day walks, having chosen our route the evening before. We will drive from the centre taking a packed lunch with us and return for tea. Friday's route will be shorter to allow us to return to the centre for a 16:00 finish time.
