Chalk rivers guide

FSC Chalk rivers guide features the special insects, molluscs, mammals, fish and plants that live in chalk streams and rivers. Text on the reverse side examines the global importance of English chalk streams.

Chalk rivers are beautiful and diverse places, but they are globally rare. There are fewer than 200 chalk rivers in the world. Most of these are in southern England, with the rest in northern France. Chalk rock stretches in a diagonal band across the southern half of England. It runs from Wiltshire and Hampshire across the Chilterns to East Anglia and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
