Meres and Mosses
The Meres and Mosses landscape is unique in Britain. It has the largest group of natural lowland lakes and wetlands in England. What’s more it has the highest density of ponds of anywhere in Europe. It covers the North Shropshire, Maelor and Cheshire plain. This area extends from the Mersey Estuary in the north to the Black Country in the south, and from the Welsh Marches in the east to the Potteries in the east.
