The Woodland Condition Assessment (WCA) will help you assess your woodland’s condition in a standardised way. Carrying out the assessment is straightforward, and anyone can do it. The new WCA App will simplify the assessment, particularly by introducing new rules around Biodiversity Net Gain and other legislation for developers and landowners to consider.
Field Studies Council training courses and resources have been designed to progress your learning around Woodland Condition Assessments and support you in using the new App, which has been developed by the Forestry Commission and Sylva Foundation, with funding from Defra’s Nature for Climate Fund.
