An opportunity for looked-after and adopted children to have fun in the woods, build confidence, self-esteem and learn some transferable skills in a nurturing, safe environment. Activities include:

  • Treasure hunt
  • Bug hunting

Forest Play – 2-5 year olds

Session dates: 29th October, 8th November, 22nd November

10am-12pm – £1 per child, no charge for adults. Children must be accompanied by an adult

Play in the woods to build self-esteem and confidence and learn some transferable skills. Activities will include crafts, building dens, hunting for bugs, mud play, campfire and imaginative play. Younger siblings can accompany carers at no charge as long as all children are adequately supervised at all times.

Forest Explorer – 5-11 year olds

Session dates: 29th October, 9th November, 23rd November

10am-12pm – £1 per child

An opportunity for children to have fun in the woods, building confidence and selfesteem in a nurturing, safe environment. Activities will include searching for pond and woodland animals, den building, fire lighting, making bird feeders, treasure trails and crafts. A room will be available with tea and coffee for carers who wish to remain on site during the activity. We would recommend this if you think your child will struggle with any aspects of the activities.


  • All sessions led by friendly and professional tutors
  • All staff are trained in First Aid and all activities are risk assessed
  • Staffing ratios 1:6 (5-7 years old) 1:8 (8-11 year olds) Under 5s accompanied by carer

Please come prepared to be outside whatever the weather, with waterproofs, warm layers and appropriate footwear.

Booking Conditions

  • Activities take place outdoors and children should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the conditions.
  • Amersham Field Centre cannot accept responsibility for unaccompanied children before and after specified times.
  • Amersham Field Centre is on the site of an electricity substation, children must be kept away from the boundary fences.
  • We reserve the right to refuse admission to poorly behaved children.
  • We may amend the programme if necessary.
  • We reserve the right to cancel activities if insufficient bookings are taken.
