Very interesting course and great introduction to this unusual assemblage of plants. Hilary’s teaching was very logical and there was a mixture of abilities, which she coped with very well. Would recommend, especially to ecologists working in uplands.

very enjoyable course. Course leader was a good speaker and kept us entertained and interested even though we didn’t see very many birds of prey. an evening walk on the day of arrival would have been a good addition.

Came to this course as a refresher on grasses, Mark has an approachable way of teaching and helps you pick out key diagnostic features in a memorable way. Would highly recommend.

This course lived up to my expectations. Our tutor Ben was extremely knowledgeable whose clear and concise teaching method enabled a wealth of information transference for assessing NVC Heathland habitats. I learnt a lot in a short space of time. I was perhaps not prepared for the length of hill…

Grwet tutor (especially at such short notice), food good but shame about the tiny room (some four bed rooms only occupied by one person but we were squeezed into a small twin bed room with little hanging space and very few surfaces or draws to store anything!)…

Really great day, good mix of species info, wider habitat knowledge and outdoor ‘hunting’. Maybe too much ‘rare species’ info.

Many thanks to Fiona for a very interesting, useful & enjoyable course. The locations were fantastic and we had just the right balance between some classroom time and plenty of time out in the field. A good number of attendees to ensure some interaction but a manageable group…
