Explore the weird world of fungi! Though the types can be quite different, Fungi plays an important role in everyday human life and the world around us.

This course is an introduction to the wonderful world of fungi. The course is designed to introduce you to the very basics of the biology and ecology of this rich and varied group. Later topics take you through where to find fungi and the important role it plays in many ecosystems.

This is a 4-week online course covering 4 topics, for which you will complete a variety of online resources and activities. Each topic is then concluded with an interactive Zoom workshop to complement the content.

Tutor: Nathan Smith

Nathan Smith is a mycologist, researcher, and a member of the British Mycological Society. Nathan has a PhD in Fungal Biology and History of Mycology, with a particular interest in geographic and taxonomic distributions and discrepancies of herbaria fungal collections.
