The videos were filmed in Easedale, a glacial valley in the Central Lake District. The bedrock of this area is part of the Borrowdale Volcanic Group, an area of harder igneous rock that was formed during a series of volcanic eruptions about 450 million years ago. Since then, a series of ice ages have carved out the peaks and valleys of the Lake District with the most recent ending around 11,000 years ago.
Easedale is a wide U-shaped glacial valley with a misfit stream flowing down from Easedale Tarn. The videos below demonstrate methods for investigating the orientation of the glacial flow in Easedale.
